UAE launches 10-year Blue Residence Visa for environment advocates
Following the second year of Sustainability, the UAE launches a new long-term residency visa — Blue Visa. The UAE government has made a respective announcement this year on May 15.
The newly announced Blue Visa aligns with the UAE’s long-term goal positioning the country as a global player in environmental sustainability and conservation.
The Blue residency visa features 10-year validity and specifically dedicated to individuals who have exceptionally contributed towards the protection of the environment, both inside and outside the UAE in the following sectors:
• Marine life conservation: reservation and restoration of marine ecosystems
• Climate action: including carbon emission reduction and fostering renewable energy
• Environmental, conservation, and governance (ECG): creation of policies and practices that enhance environmental governance and regulatory frameworks
• Sustainable development: integrating sustainability into various industries
It will be granted to those, who support the environmental movement, including international companies, members of international and non-governmental organisations and associations, global award winners, and recongnised activists and researches.
As many experts highlighted, the Blue Visa will support environment advocates in balancing their strive for the environment protection and job security.
